Ronin in Kanji

Ronins were masterless Samurais in medieval Japan, whose master had died, was killed or committed suicide. They roamed the country offering their services to whoever paid best.

Later when things were changing in Japan and the Samurai era was drawing to and end these Samurais were no longer needed.According to tradition they were not allowed to work as farmers,so they starved.
